So I wanted to try a do a little oil painting of a small little sketch I doodled at work the other day, sort of a trail for more to come. Wanted to see how long it will take and what not. I usually paint from life in oils and to be honest I haven't painted out of my head in oils much.
Painted at the Oregon Coast for 3 days.. I don't much like painting in the wind but I didn't have a choice. I went there thinking it would kick me in the mood to do some outdoor painting when i get back to Seattle. Here's what I produced on my little trip.
ProgressSo I've been working on this painting Fire head fatty. And I wasn't sure if I was done with it or not so I hung it on my living room wall thinking that would help me decide if it's finished. Today I busted out the paints on it, so no it's not done. It's so close, at least I'd like to think. But this seem to be the most trying part, finishing it. Trying not to over work it but still have all the things in it to call it good and done.close up teaser shot
this piece was an experiment for me. Was trying some new things mentally and not get so caught up in how I was taught to paint. Instead I played and tried stuff. Nothing earth shattering just subtle things in paint handling.
Some older stuff. I liked this one because of the brush work. I painted over an old painting so I had that surface to deal with .Plus it was on a hard board and those things tend to pronounce the stokes enless your one to lick your stokes all smooth. And no, the model wasn't stoned she was sleepy.
